Weight Loss Decision

Weight loss Decision

“Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Sandyjean got an email from a man named Billy Beck. She was on his list and when she viewed the video he sent over the Internet a huge smile filled her face. He was talking about research that could improve your physical results by as much as 64% but part of the video that really made her happy was the way he jumped on stage because today she too could jump with both feet together and land on her step aerobic bench with 2 risers. And when she felt herself jump she felt as graceful and confident as a puma as she flew through the air. This had not always been the case. In fact a few years ago as she bent over to tie her shoes her stomach got in the way and she had to tilt to the left or lift her foot up to get them tied. One day as she was positioning herself to perform this delicate maneuver she made a decision. This has to end. I am going to empower these feet to lead me to a better way. Later that day she found herself walking by a storefront in Vancouver, Washington called TheHealthyWeigh™, and looked in to see a large group of people laughing, clapping, and running up to get weighed on a scale. As she stood by the door a thin, beautiful mature woman walked toward her and she stopped her and asked, “What is going on in there?” Oh! It’s the challenge she replied, why don’t you slip in and sit in the back and see for yourself. SandyJean sat there and heard words of encouragement like we believe that permanent change happens from the inside out and you have the capacity to change. As she looked around she could see that all the people in the room were smiling and laughing and congratulating themselves on their successful weigh loss. The energy was electric and contagious and Sandy Jean felt she could be successful here and successful she was exactly a year later. Her dreams of becoming thin, and healthy were achieved when she stepped off the scale and turned around to see all the smiling people celebrating her 75 lb weigh loss.

4 Tips for you!

• Believe it can happen to you no matter what your age or circumstances

• Never, never give up reaching for your dreams

• Watch for and expect the next step that will take you or jump you to success

• Use the energy of expectancy and celebrate any occurrence that matches your decision.
The first step to change is to make a decision and then expecting that another opportunity will present itself to you and then it is up to you to take that next step up the evolution scale. Open your eyes and become aware of how it will unfold and celebrate the perfect match to your desire.

Personal Development Experiment: Acupuncture Week 2

I am starting to document some of the personal development experiments that I am doing here on the MorningCoach.com blog. I think it is important that in my quest to gain more knowledge and find the best in human performance and development I start to open up some of the research I am doing. That does not mean that I am recommending the things that I am experimenting with. It means that I am going to just let the MorningCoach.com members into my life a little more. Always remember, when it comes to fitness, exercise, or anything to do with your health, consult your local health care professional. These are my experiences not to be construed as medical advice.

Last week was my first week at Yangs Acupuncture. I am going for general health purposes. I am not looking to “fix” anything I am doing this to improve my performance and have an overall better quality of life.

This week I headed in for my second week with the needles. I have to say I had zero pain on the needle insertion this week. They where placed in the standard areas of the neck, head, arms, legs, knees, and elbows. I had a slight twinge of pain when he placed one in my foot but other then that I was good.

I relaxed for twenty or thirty minutes and the Doctor came back in to take the needles out. It was a pretty uneventful second trip until he said he had Chinese Herbs for me this week. I was like, “super cool!” He brought me in these two herbs combinations. One for kidneys and the other for stress.

The fist one for stress is Shu Gan Wan. I have to take six of these very tiny globes three times a day thirty minutes after meals. The other one for the kidneys is Wu Zi Yan Zong. I have to take eight of these in the same matter thirty minutes after meals.

I started the TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) herbal treatment today with my first 14 globules just after lunch.

My Chinese Herbs for the Week (Numbers Are How Many I Need To Take)

I am going through green week here at the annual Mike Lee Kanarek boot camp so I have been pretty rundown all week. We are detoxifying this week and letting the inflammation in our body go down. I have not been 100% in fact I am running at about 80%.

One thing I can say about acupuncture is when I finish I just have massive energy. It is like a switch comes on. My feeling on well being and happiness is off the chart. More so then when I do normal personal development such as reading or meditating. I am not sure why, but it is really working for me. Since it is green week I have not had the massive training regiment that I normally go through. Next week I will be able to report more of the physical progress that I am making. But overall after two weeks. I feel less stressed and more relaxed. Plus, just happier.

This personal development experiment has been a great one so far. Much more to come as I get into more of the weeks. We are just getting started and my energy levels are off the charts.

Energy on the Way Up

iStock_000014784342XSmallSo often I have seen men and women, particularly those climbing the career ladder, slowly start to let work take precedence over their health.  I’ll be honest here, I was one of those women who fell into this trap previously.  It starts out innocently as a workout missed here and there.  Then you find yourself eating fast-food or packaged food because you are short on time or tired from a long work day.  Weight gain creeps in.  You start losing valuable hours of sleep because you are working on a project or presentation for work. Little by little, you find yourself relying more on caffeine or energy drinks to give you that boost.  Sugar and sweets often becomes another source for that “pick me up” effect.  Over time, it takes more and more caffeine and/or sugar to have the same effect that it did early on.

Before long, random aches and pains will often start to set in, typically in the neck, shoulders and back.  Headaches could also begin to increase.  It becomes a steady cycle of dis-ease winding a spiral of symptoms throughout our bodies.  To counteract these symptoms, we may choose medications instead of looking at the big picture so to speak.  I’ve seen patients taking everything from over-the-counter medications all the way to narcotics, legal and illegal, to combat the pain and dis-ease they feel.  The once vital person is now someone with a fraction of the energy and level of health remaining.

So what are some basic things to do to steer clear of this trap that many of us fall into?

  1. Drink more water. May sound strange, but drinking at least 50% of your weight in ounces of water per day will help flush many of the built up toxins out of the body.  This helps restore energy and decrease pain.
  2. Avoid packaged/processed foods. Its tough when you are on a busy schedule, but it is very doable with a bit of advanced planning.  Keep fruit, nuts and veggies at the office or in your car to munch on.  This will keep your blood sugar more stable and prevent the cycle of relying on candy or drive-thru meals from becoming a habit.  Once you get home, you won’t be as famished or inclined to eat a heavy meal at home or in a restaurant. Each time you eat food closest to it’s natural source–the way it appears on earth, the more wholesome nutrients and good energy you are feeding your body.
  3. Get some type of exercise.  Take the stairs, park far away and walk, walk on your lunch break, go to the gym, take a yoga, dance or fitness class.  Whatever it is, just do it.  Not only will it be beneficial for your body physically, it will also be good for you mentally.  Exercise is how we strengthen ourselves to be able to handle those long challenging days mentally and physically.  Don’t use the excuse that “I don’t have time.”  Continuously missing  as little as 30 minutes of exercise each day, may cost you years off your life span in the end.  Make the time. You are worth it. Your family and the world need your energy  as well.  Don’t short-change us.
  4. Sleep more.  So often, we have trouble unwinding at night and watch TV.  This simulates the brain to stay awake versus unwinding it to sleep.  Have you ever noticed yourself thinking about the news and its negativity and drama, instead of peaceful thoughts as you prepare your body for rest? By turning off the TV, you could add another 30-60 minutes of sleep, if not more, to your night.  Our bodies restore, rejuvenate and regain energy when we sleep.

These tips are all things you have probably heard before, but from what I see in the clinic and in the world, we all need to be reminded again and again.  Here in the United States particularly, we are conditioned by advertisers to eat fast, live fast, communicate fast, etc. Our bodies cannot sustain that lifestyle without first having a solid foundation of wellness from within.

Remember, be well, do well, live well.

How Successful are You in Health?

iStock_000008268946XSmallI just found out this weekend that a friend of mine passed away after a battle with cancer.  She was a great woman…hard working, financially successful, very generous, intelligent and kind.  I have been thinking about her and it saddens me to know that the type of cancer she had was one of the types that have been proven preventable by what we eat.  She was only in her 50’s.  I keep thinking how could I have made more of a impact in educating her about health/wellness?

Many people gauge their success by the amount of money in their bank account, the size of their house or perhaps the type of car they drive.  But how many of us, gauge our success by the level of health and wellness in our bodies?  I wonder what would happen if there was a shift in our thinking, and we all suddenly cared more about how our bodies were truly functioning mentally and physically than we did about the designer label on our clothes or what area of town we live in? I wonder what would happen if there was a shift in our conditioning and we began eating to live instead on living to eat?  I wonder if my friend could have avoided the intense suffering she endured over the past few years in her cancer treatments if she would have had more information previously about how to nourish her mind and body and how the foods she ate impacted the function of every cell in her body?

So if there is a purpose to all the events that happen in life, I want to my friend’s death to be my wake up call for me to stop sitting on my vision and dream of sharing the decades worth of knowledge I have in the areas of health and wellness.  I want others to realize that all other measurements of success are basicallly meaningless or short-lived unless we focus on becoming successful in our health first.  Countless studies have shown that our job performance, as well as the quality of engagement with our families and relationships will significantly improve as we take steps toward becoming more successful in our health.  When our bodies are healthy, we will spend less time sitting in a doctor’s office and more time being present and creative in our businesses to keep them progressing, more time being present and creative in our relationships so that they stay fresh and invigorated, and more time being present and creative in expressing who we are as an authentic person along this journey called life.

So I put it out there for manifestion…stay tuned!

Engine Need a Tune-up?

iStock_000008268946XSmall[1]Spring is here and are you like me ready to take the winter tires off the car, book and appointment for a tune-up and oil change?  Just like a car needs a tune-up to remain in running condition your body needs a yearly tune-up to maintain optimum health. When is the last time you had a Doctor’s appointment and had your blood work checked? How is your weight and are you getting enough exercise?

Most people tend to avoid the yearly visit to their doctor and the above important questions can remain unanswered for many years.  I’ve certainly done this myself at one point in my life.  Fear and frustration are the most prevalent factors for not taking that crucial necessary trip to the doctor’s office.  If frustration is the motivating factor and you are not happy with your present doctor then don’t hesitate to try and find another one with a reassuring presence that takes the time to listen to you and invests in your well-being.

Physical exercise and being optimistic can change your mental outlook and will help your health enormously.   Martin Seligman, PHD and one of the leading experts in the field of positive psychology and author of the new book Flourish states: “ when it comes to our health there are essentially four things under our control: the decision not to smoke, a commitment to exercise, the quality of our diet and our level of optimism.  And optimism is at least as beneficial as the others.” Not only will exercise and optimism relieve your mind of stress but it will also give you a boost of energy.  Putting yourself first, adding exercise and a positive mental attitude will definitely enhance your overall well-being.

It’s time to take control of your health in a positive way.  “Your life changes the moment you make a new congruent and committed decision”. Tony Robbins, (Awaken the Giant Within) Taking that initial first step is not easy. First and foremost stop beating yourself up and give yourself a break.  Stay focused on moving ahead with your life with positive energy.  Take on an attitude of action. Try these few techniques before you head out the door to your next visit.

  1. Plan your questions.  Write out a list of concerns and questions to ask before you go to the doctor. You will most likely be interrupted but with the list you can at least go back to ensure that your concerns are being addressed.
  2. Be honest and don’t leave out anything.  The doctor can’t treat you properly if you are not upfront and honest with them.
  3. Insist on being understood.  If you don’t understand, be persistent and interrupt and ask to explain in layman’s terms.  It is important you understand the conversation.

You can change your health if you believe and make good choices to keep your health in check.  Live for today and don’t delay.  Pick up that phone and make the commitment to schedule your next visit to the doctor.
