Unwrap Christmas

Many people around the world are busy preparing for Christmas and it seems like it’s easy to get lost in the frenzy of Gift with ribbon and bow.decorations, Santa Claus, gift buying and holiday parties. We spend a lot of time and money wrapping each gift with fancy paper, ribbons and bows to give to friends and loved ones. We hope they will be delighted by our purchases, and that they will find excitement and joy in the toy or present. Sadly, somehow commercialism has conditioned us to focus more on buying and wrapping gifts instead of unwrapping the true meaning of Christmas. The true meaning is found in the Bible when it is written that Jesus’ birth proclaimed that he was Immanuel, “God with us.” This is the ultimate gift that needs celebrating!  –God is with us!

Whether you have had the best year or worst year financially, God is with you.  Whether you have excellent health or disease, God is with you. Whether your relationships are good or need lots of improvement, God is with you. Whether you feel depressed and alone or surrounded by lots of friends, God is with you.  In a world that is ever changing, the one thing that remains constant is God is with you.  As you begin to prepare for the new year, allow God to pursue you and your heart.  Spend time unwrapping, opening and connecting with this powerful relationship. This gift is one that will never fade, wear out, break, or stop working when the batteries die.  This is the gift that empowers you each moment with hope, peace, joy and love. So wherever you are at, take a moment to sense this. Unwrap Christmas and know that God is with you.

Merry Christmas!

How to Recognize Truth

Most people try and ponder the difference between what is right and what is wrong, I believe that this is a conversation that has been and will forever remain in debate. However I think that there are ways where we can become more able in distinguishing the difference between these two extremes. The most important attribute to have in this case is referred to through a variety of words whether it’s education, information, intelligence, even awareness. It’s difficult sometimes to find a word that truly defines certain deep thought experiences, to quote my friend and mentor JB Glossinger “Words limit meaning sometimes”.  The point that I am trying to make is that there needs to be an essential sense of awareness in order to really find truth.

There are very few teachers within my experience in traditional education that I can say were any good, yet there are a selected handful that were influential on my path. One of them was my Intercultural Communications college professor Dr. Tamie Kanata. Dr. Kanata was a professor that you could tell was very passionate when teaching. She actually cared for educating her students, as it showed in ever class she taught. Her sense of awareness and high level of wisdom provided me with an ample of amount of insight. Through the wonder of technology I still remain in touch with Dr. K through facebook. SheFinding Truth The Samurai Way still provides me with insight and guidance whenever we have the chance to meet online. During one of our deep thought conversations I asked her opinion on finding truth. Instead of providing me a direct answer to my question she gave me the story of a Japanese swords expert named Morihiro Ogawa.

Mr. Ogawa’s level of expertise with samurai swords was world class. He was constantly surrounded by the best crafted samurai swords in the world. His attention to detail and experience provided Mr. Ogawa with an ability to distinguish whether a sword was fake or authentic at first sight. While others would need to research and test the authenticity of a sword Mr. Ogawa could notice its status right away. Dr. K explained that his ability to distinguish the truth was developed by focusing his attention towards authentic swords. In doing so, he would be able pick out an inauthentic sword immediately.

The moral of the story was that if by focusing one’s attention towards truth then anything outside of this could immediately be classified as fake or false. The difficulty in comprehending this idea is tied to the fact that at a certain point understanding what is true will be beyond logical comprehension. It’s something that is not formally understood but instead it’s is felt. The only way in order to experience this feeling is to increase your awareness for truth, and once you find it it’s your responsibility to focus your energy towards it. The more you direct your attention to what is true the better you will be able to gain a solid foundation and aptitude to distinguish any inauthentic experiences you may encounter.

Journaling: Finding Answers to Your Own Questions

We all have within us what I call the finger prints of God, the remnant of the divine power that was responsible for taking the time to create theJournal Personal Developmentunique beings that we all are. It is the most essential supply needed for the great journey (Life). I believe that during this journey one will encounter barriers and situations that will require a person to tap into this supply and search for answers. In my opinion one of the most effective ways to tap into your supply is by a simple exercise called journaling.

Journaling is an opportunity to let out all of the ideas and thoughts that are constantly floating in your head, by putting them on paper. It’s a place where your can go and express your state of being with no shame or criticism, it’s a chance to get in touch with the divine essence that embodies your being. Through this connection you will be able to tap into a powerful source for answers to all of your problems. If you have never experienced the power of journaling it would be hard for you to understand, only because it’s hard to explain. There are times where I am journaling and out of no where an answer to a question will suddenly appear. You may ask, how? To tell you the truth I have absolutely no clue. However I can tell this, if you follow my golden rule to journaling you can be sure to experience these epiphanies.

I believe that there is one major important rule when it comes to effective journaling, and that is that there are no rules. This is something where being politically correct can actually hold you back from making any progress. If you feel happy, sad, angry, hurt, etc…write it down damn it! Who you are, is whom you were meant to be. This can only happen if you are true to yourself. Take the time out of your day and say what you need to say, it will be one of the most revealing experiences you will ever have.

WANT OR INTENTION?

I consider the act of wanting as passive. It is defined as “the desire to possess or do something.”  I equate this to children at Christmas time or around their birthday making a list of what they want to receive for gifts and then just waiting around for the special day to hopefully receive their  requests.

iStock_000012723220XSmallIntention is the grown-up version of wanting. The definition of “intention” is “an aim that guides action; an objective; a course of action that one intends to follow.  Therefore, instead of just sitting around and waiting for it to happen, we put forth effort to ensure that what we desire comes to fruition.

In the physical sense of intending, we study hard while in school to get the grades required to be accepted into the college of our choice, we perfect our craft with a multitude of practice hours on the football field or dance studio and we are conscientious once in the ranks of the workforce in order to climb the ladder to management.

Have you thought about intention in the metaphysical sense to up the score? It is also possible to increase the probability of our desired outcome by setting forth intentions to ourselves, God and the Universe for what we are going to manifest.  Doing this solidifies a determination and, more importantly, a belief, that what you desire will be yours.

You can send your intention out into the world by visualizing the manifestation of your desire with great detail. Be very specific in all the minute details.  Putting your visions and dreams down on paper, either in a story or picture format, also helps solidify your thoughts, turning them into beliefs, giving you something more concrete to keep by your side.

For successful intending and living, it is important to nurture our body, mind and spirit in order to be open to receive. God and the Universe are always on our side and will bend over backwards to align the stars for us.  However, we need to make sure we first align ourselves by being as healthy as possible in order for the energy to flow through, unobstructed.  Keeping our body healthy is best accomplished by eating pure, unprocessed foods, as close to their original source as possible, to give us the needed nutrients to function at optimal health.  It is also a wonderful idea to slow down and really give thought about what we are eating as well as bless the food, its source and the energy it possesses, before taking that first bite.  We also need to keep our muscles strong, our bodies limber, and our heart pumping through cardio, stretching and resistance-training exercises.  Our spirit can be exercised, as well, through singing praise, prayer, meditation, journaling, attending church services plus whatever methods you prefer in order to stay connected to your source.  Our minds will stay healthy by allowing positive messages to come in while excluding the negative, continuing to learn and keeping an open mind.

Intention can be used for every facet of our lives from intending to have a fabulous day when you wake up in the morning, to intending to travel safely with no incidents or accidents on the way to work, to meeting just the right people to help you catapult your business into the heavens, to finding your soul mate.  You are limited only by your desire and imagination.

Don’t live passively through life…live with intention.
