I don’t know about you, but I usually feel like there is so much information and so many ideas swirling around in my head that I feel like they might escape out my ears. At any given moment, I am thinking about what needs to be accomplished that day, what calls I need to make, what I need to investigate, etc. With all of this going on at one time, it is nearly impossible for me to focus on anything.
I have discovered that “mind dumping”, or writing down on paper everything that is flying around in my head, works like deleting the temporary files in my computer. When I transfer all the thoughts and ideas that inundate me onto paper, I free up space inside my brain and am able to focus on the tasks at hand and actually accomplish things. I no longer worry about any of it because I keep it close by and know I can look down at any given moment and “see” what needs to be done as well as add to the list any new thought, idea, or to-do racing past the window of my mind’s eye like the Wicked Witch of the West and Toto during the twister. This might seem like a no brainer, and it is, but too often we don’t take the time to do it.
It took me a while to realize this, but becoming lax in this department actually has a profound affect on my day and my mood, as well as has a trickle-down effect on those around me in the form of a lack of undivided attention and loss of positive physical and mental energy. When I feel organized, both in my physical space and in my head, I am gung-ho and ready to take on the world. I am clearly focused and productive, and my creative juices flow much more easily. When I do not feel organized and my space is not organized, I tend to start and stop a number of different things, essentially not moving forward in anything and feeling guilty as a result. Have you ever noticed how great you feel when you have completed a task, especially if it is something you have put off for some time? It feels amazing and does wonders in allowing you to realize your awesome self worth. You stand a little taller and your presence expands.
For those who follow JB Glossinger and Morning Coach, you know how strongly he believes in having the right structures in place for optimal productivity. He developed a wonderful system and coined the term Sacred Six To-Dos and Sacred Six Projects, which are amazing and work perfectly. Through trial and error, I have found that taking it one step further and writing down EVERYTHING I can think of and separating these items into separate categories, accentuates the sacred lists and works the best for me.

The more organized we are, the more we can truly focus our energies. Try it. You will be amazed at how much more you will get done in a shorter amount of time and how much better you will feel.
I believe we are all here to help each other, so if you have any tips you would like to share or would like to leave feedback on what you have just read, I would love it! Thanks in advance.
Big Hugs,
Leslie Brice

After living most of my younger life trying to please everyone. I read something in a long forgotten book. I can’t remember the quote exactly, but it goes something like this: when I die and stand before God HE won’t ask me why I wasn’t anyone else. He will simply ask me if I was me!? A light came on in my soul as I pondered this. I realized I am a unique creation, sent here on for a very special purpose.
Have you ever had one of those days or maybe several where you are so busy spinning like a hamster on a wheel, round and round accomplishing absolutely nothing? Or do you crave that sense of urgency and feel ecstatic once the calamity is over? In today’s society there are so many people who are adrenaline “junkies”. They feed off this harried energy because they feel validated with an outcome of instant results. This standard of crisis management has become the norm and an expectation for others to follow.
