In my last seven posts I have discussed the virtues of Bushido as they relate in general, and to Morning Coach. This Code was born of the warrior class of Japan and of the wisdom of Buddhism and Confucianism. Today, this code has less to do with war, pride, power, or conquest and more to do with personal evolution, refinement and enlightenment.
In feudal Japan following a strict code was paramount to all else including one’s own life. It was imperative to maintain the honor of oneself and of family above everything else, and was considered noble to die in the defense of such honor.
While today that is certainly not the case in most societies, the attempt to show honor and integrity in our daily lives continues. One big difference today is that we follow the rule of law as opposed to adhering to a way of life that is based on the seven virtues of Bushido. In today’s world a person who follows the Bushido code might be considered rare. But, by following this Code, we show that we choose to live by a set of higher principles that not only make us a better person, but also can garner more respect and bring us better fortune by virtue of the fact that people are attracted to and more likely to help those they respect. However, if we use the Code for some outward reward, we will fail in our endeavors because they are opportunistic. There is only one preset reward for following the Code; that of leading a life in which we are at peace with ourselves, our decisions, and our actions. By leading a life based on the Code, we show others, ourselves, and the Universe that we are worthy to receive all that is meant for us.
I wonder what the world would be like if we all live by such a Code?

The Random House definition of loyalty is an unwavering allegiance or faithfulness to someone or something, be it a cause, custom, government, person, institution, or product.
Honor is defined as “honesty, fairness, or integrity in one’s beliefs and actions”. You will notice the word “honesty” is used to define honor, because the two are closely related. But while they do have similarities, honesty is only one part of honor. It also entails fairness and mote importantly, the integrity to one’s own beliefs.
After listening to Nick’s interview with JB Glossinger on “Profiles in Success” on Morning Coach, I couldn’t wait to purchase this amazing book. Nick is an internationally renowned motivational speaker travelling the world sharing his wisdom, inspiring the world to overcome adversity with faith, and spreading the word about the power of purpose. What is truly remarkable is his life journey. You see, Nick was born without arms or legs and this book illustrates his journey with his disability finding his independence and following God’s path with humility, love, hope and always with laughter. Let me preface this review with Nick’s motto that he lives by “Another Day, another opportunity”.
